Thanks to the hand-picked selection of Malvasia and Trebbiano grapes from the Podere Casale I° estate, harvested and left to naturally dry for approximately three or four months after the harvest, an excellent Vin Santo DOC Riserva di San Gimignano is born.

The lightly dehydrated grapes are then pressed and the juice is transferred in small barrels, made with various types of woods from different regions of the world; here it is left to rest for at least 48 months. 
Only the best casks are chosen for bottling the Riserva.
In 1998 Vin Santo obtained the Chianti DOC denomination status, elevating the standards of production for the entire region.

Our Vin Santo del Chianti  DOC Riserva is suitable for a long aging: 10-15 years and beyond.

Its' color is an intense golden yellow with deep amber and gold reflections, while the aroma is broad and penetrating, with lively notes of dried fruits, nuts, honey, vanilla and other sweet spices. To the taste it feels at first dry, then soft, warm, harmonious, with an excellent persistence.

It can be served at temperatures between 10 and 18 ° C in a small sweet wine glass or in a balloon style glass as a meditation wine; serve it slightly chilled as an excellent aperitif with dry, aged cheeses or fine fois gras; at room temperature it is ideally to be paired with the Tuscan almond biscotti, preferably from the town of Prato.

The characteristics of the Vin Santo del Chianti

The Vin Santo del Chianti produced in San Gimignano by Casale Falchini stands out for the following characteristics:
  • Denomination: Vin Santo del Chianti D.O.C. RISERVA
  • Provenance: Property owned vineyards in San Gimignano
  • Grape variety: Trebbiano and Malvasia
  • Vinification: late harvest, hand picked grapes in the vineyard and naturally dehydated. Vinified in small oak "caratelli" and other precious woods of various sizes, in different environments for minimum four or more years. The resulting wine is then bottled and ready for sale
  • Alcoholic content: 14,5% minimum - 17,0% maximum
